DateLine: 29th June 2009 Media Release - 29 June 2009 Medicare Veterans won the Javed Shaikh Memorial Veterans T/20 Cricket Tournament organized by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association by defeating Professional Veterans by 29 runs. The Match was played under floodlights at the Asghar Ali Shah Cricket Stadium. Medicare Veterans won the toss and elected to bat and scored 183 runs for the loss of only 2 Wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Khaleeq Ullah was the main architect of Medicare innings. He scored unbeaten knock of 71 runs in only 46 balls with 4 sixes and 2 Fours. Mehmood Rasheed scored an unbeaten brisk innings of 49 runs in only 25 balls with 4 sixes and 1 four. The unbroken third wicket partnership between Khaleeq Ullah and Mehmood Rasheed produced 108 runs. Other notable scorers were Babar Basharat 20 runs and Irfan Khan 23 runs. For the Professional Veterans Tariq Alam and Kazim Mehdi took 1 wicket each for 17 and 21 runs respectively. Batting Second Professional Veterans team could only score 154 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Akram Khan played a fine innings of 50 runs in 31 balls with 7 fours and Ghulam Mohiuddin scored 46 not out in 28 balls with 1 six and 4 fours. For the Medicare Veterans Mehmood Rasheed was the most successful bowler with 2 wickets for 30 runs. Babar Basharat and Dr. Anjum Fazal took 1 wicket each for 16 runs. Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah Minister of Sports Sindh was the Chief Guest and distributed the prizes at the conclusion of the Match. Mr. Fawad Ijaz Khan Chairman Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association and Brig (Retd) Salahuddin Chief Executive Sindh Seniors Cricket Welfare Association also spoke on the occasion. Mr. Noman Shaikh Son of Late Javed Shaikh was also present at the prize distribution Ceremony. Following Trophies / Cash prizes were given. Man of the Final Mahmood Rasheed (Rs. 2,000), Best Player of the Tournament Mansoor Akhter (Rs. 5,000), Best Batsman Khaleequllah (Rs. 2,500), Best Bowler Abdul Muttaqi (Rs. 2,500), Best Wicket Keeper Rana Alamgir (Rs. 2,500) and Outstanding Performer of the Tournament Ejaz Fakih (Rs. 2,500).
