In the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa, England’s Kevin Pietersen accumulated 454 runs in seven games with three hundreds and a fifty. Pietersen interestingly missed the chance of equalling the world record of most runs by a batsman in a bilateral ODI series by just a single run. Chris Gayle of West Indies holds the world record of 455 runs in same number of games against India in 2002 series. For reader’s interest the accompanying table has the complete details.
