National Cricket Rankings

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) introduced today a National Cricket Rankings system, which will represent official PCB rankings for National Cricket Pakistan (i.e. domestic cricket of Pakistan). The rankings have been introduced to increase competitiveness and interest in National Cricket Pakistan. The rankings have been sponsored by ABN AMRO Bank, the Lead Sponsors of National Cricket Pakistan.

The PCB and ABN AMRO Bank have also revamped the National Cricket Pakistan website ( www.ncp.com.pk or www.pcb.com.pk or www.pcboard.com.pk ) and, along with the rankings, have introduced exciting quizzes, prizes, and interactive features to the Web site, which will develop public interest and a loyal fan following for National Cricket Pakistan.

The rankings will be available to the public at the National Cricket Pakistan Web site or www.pcb.com.pk or www.pcboard.com.pk. They will be updated after every first-class match and will be an indication of the performance of players participating in the domestic circuit. The rankings will also make it easier for fans to follow progress of various players and teams taking part in National Cricket Pakistan.

Overview of the Rankings

Following are salient features of the National Cricket Rankings:

• The rankings are based on the performances of players in first-class matches over the last five seasons
• One-Day International or Test Matches have not been considered while generating the rankings
• Recent matches are given more weight in the rankings than earlier ones
• For batsmen and bowlers points are adjusted taking into account the quality of the opposition bowling/batting
