Media Release - 7 October 2005

With regard to a news-item carried by a section of the print/electronic media on 6 October 2005 stating that Lt. Gen. Arif Hasan had agreed to assume the Chairmanship of PCB's Television channel, PCB clarifies that the news-item was obviously based on some misunderstanding. The facts are:

a. Chairman PCB called on Lt. Gen. Arif Hasan in his capacity as the Chairman of Pakistan Olympic Association requesting him to chair a meeting of the representatives of Sports Federations such as Hockey, Football, Squash and Tennis etc. to discuss the need for a sports channel.

b. Lt. Gen. Arif Hasan kindly consented to convene a meeting of the heads of Sports Federations.

It may be stressed that chairing a meeting is a proposition different from accepting the Chairmanship of Pakistan Sports Channel.
