Media Release - 24 January 2006 PCB appoints consultant for proposed cricket channel Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed Mr. Akhtar Viqar Azim, formerly Managing Director of PTV and currently heading the PTV Foundation as Consultant for its proposed Cricket Channel. The appointment has been made initially for a period of six months during which Mr. Azim is expected to focus on various aspects of the project and prepare a detailed feasibility study on the proposal. It may be mentioned that the post of Consultant for the Cricket Channel was advertised in leading newspapers on 20.10.2005 in response to which PCB received six applications. After initial scrutiny three applicants were interviewed by the committee appointed for selection of Consultant’s post, namely, Mr. Shaharyar M. Khan (Chairman PCB), Dr. Nasim Ashraf (Minister of State National Commission for Human Development and Member PCB’s Ad hoc Committee) and Mr. Abbas Zaidi (Director Board Operations PCB). The decision to appoint Mr. Akhtar Viqar Azim was endorsed by the Ad-hoc Committee keeping in view his long professional experience as Controller of Sports in PTV and as the top Manager of Pakistan’s premier television channel.
