Media Release – 11 July 2006 The following condolence messages from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mr Shaharyar Khan and PCB Director Board Operations Mr Abbas Zaidi were sent to Mr Akhter Ali, father of Deputy Attorney General and PCB Legal Advisor Dr Sohail Akhter, on the sad demise of his son: Condolence Message from Chairman PCB I was shocked to learn here in London the tragic passing away of your beloved and well-respected son Dr Sohail Akhter. I write to express my deep personal sorrow on this sad happening. Dr Sohail Akhter was a dedicated professional in his field and his tireless efforts earned him the respected position of Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan recently. Having known him as PCB Legal Advisor till the time of his tragic death, I am proud to state that your son provided excellent services to the Board during his short stay with us. I will remember him for his soft-spoken nature and intellectual acumen while he worked on PCB assignments. I fully share your grief on this heart-rending occasion and pray that your son's soul rests in peace. May Allah Almighty give you and your family strength to bear this huge loss. Ameen.

Dr Sohail Akhter was a highly regarded professional popular with all of us. He performed his duties with utmost dedication earning a highly respectable standing in law circles. Even in his last hours, he was away in Multan on PCB assigned duty. He will be mourned and remembered by us in the Board. We pray that Dr Sohail’s soul rests in peace and may Allah Almighty give you and your family strength to bear this insurmountable loss.
