Born at Mitcham, Surrey, 16th May 1859.
Died at Tooting Grove, London, 25th December 1913.
He was registered at birth as J.CAFFRAY and appears in the 1881 Census as James CAFFEREY. He played his club cricket on Mitcham Green and was selected for the Surrey team for three matches in 1881-82.
The 1881 Census shows him living with his parents, Patrick, aged 56, a silk printer, born in Ireland, and Elizabeth, aged 56, an India rubber worker, born in Dublin. He aged 21, and his brother Bernard, aged 19 are unmarried and India rubber workers, both born in Mitcham, Surrey. There is also a lodger, Robert Craine, a 25 year old bricklayer present at 4 St Georges Villas, Croydon Road, Streatham, Surrey.
