Biography: | Succeeded his father as 4th Baron Harris of Seringapatam and Mysore, and of Belmont, in November 1872. Governor of Bombay 1890-95. Chairman, South African Consolidated Goldfields; Director, London, Chatham and Dover Railway and other companies. Chairman, County Cricket Council 1887-89. President of MCC 1895-96 (the first Test cricketer to hold the post), and MCC Treasurer 1916-32. |
